Help yourself relax better
It is a combination of 2 minerals that when taken together and at the right amounts will have a calming effect on the body. Calcium has always be in the limelight and we all know that this forms the basis of bone content and helps muscles and organs contract Magnesium on the other hand is not well-understood by the common Fiipino therefore it is best to describe how this mineral is depleted from the body and why supplementation can really help out.
An article from this website explains:
"Magnesium depletion can be caused by such things as mental and physical stress (including over-training, surgery, sweating), caffeine, sugar (including sodas – regular and diet), alcohol, tobacco, drugs of all types, high perspiration, low thyroid function, diabetes, chronic pain, diuretics, and a high carbohydrate, high-sodium or high-calcium diet.
With adequate Magnesium in the blood stream, one is calm, not easily disturbed and has a "soothing" mood. Magnesium helps put Calcium in the right context and function since both work synergestically to feed human function. Magnesium is the relaxer while Calcium is the contractor. You need both to have a balanced state.
What happens if the Calcium/Magnesium balanced is tipped? The relaxing process of muscles and organs is disrupted which gives the body poor ability to cope with stressors and agitation. If cells have a Sodium/Potassium pump which was taught by our Chemistry/Biology teacher then this is very true with the Calcium/Magnesium combination.
It is vital that you take a look at your own moods and resting patterns to see if you are getting adequate Calcium/Magnesium minerals in your diet. By looking at this aspect, you will be able to save yourself from disease and imbalances later on. With the right balance of these 2 minerals, your body's ph level will not be acidic and you will be able to feel cleansed and relaxed.
To be able to supplement, please be aware that taking too much calcium may lead to formation of stones and that you need to consult a doctor for the optimum requirement since each Filipino has an individual profile. As a personal rule, I do not exceed 1000mg of calcium. Also be aware of the forms of calcium supplements in the market, there are several like calcium ascorbate, calcium carbonate etc. Choose wisely and do your research, the best absorbed is my cue for a good kind of supplement. And the best advice you will have when starting Calcium supplementation: DRINK LOTS OF WATER, lest the stones go out and get you later on.
On the other hand, the level of Magnesium intake can be determined by several factors like your stress-level and the anxieties that you may have at the present time. You can be guided once again by your "bowels" or in the kanto language "pag naeebak ka na", try to test from the lowest levels of Magnesium you can tolerate and progress until you have loose stools (just like the Vitamin C article I talked about previously).
As to the kinds of Magnesium, there are several forms in the market. But sadly sa Pinas, I am not aware of a Magnesium supplements available over the counter supplements. There are however those that are available from network marketing companies that are reasonably-priced but on the other hand, you can also purchase some in the US if you know where to shop.
To a more relaxed YOU!
